Today marks 5 years since we launched GameMaker Studio!

GameMaker Studio has come a long way since its launch; Many new features, exports, a Marketplace, and now GameMaker Studio 2.

Not only has GameMaker changed but our developers have also grown along the way and with new developers picking up GameMaker Studio 2 every day we are super excited to see what the future brings for them and how they will push GameMaker above and beyond everything we have planned for it.

To mark this occasion, we are taking 10 minutes from our busy schedule to show you some of our favourite GameMaker games and eat some cake. So, in no particular order:

HYPER LIGHT DRIFTER

Echoes of a dark and violent past resonate throughout a savage land, steeped in treasure and blood. Hyper Light Drifter is an action adventure RPG in the vein of the best 16­bit classics, with modernized mechanics and designs on a much grander scale.

CRASHLANDS

Crashlands is a story-driven crafting ARPG set in an outlandish world of hidden magic and high technology. Fight and tame alien beasts, craft resources into menacing weaponry, befriend the locals, and go toe-to-chin with a world-domineering maniac.

DEATH’S GAMBIT

Death's Gambit is a challenging Action-RPG where you explore an alien medieval world filled with beasts, knights, and horrors. Climb big creatures that will test your resolve. Fight dangerous monsters that will make you think outside the box. Give up everything for glory.

DOWNWELL

Downwell is a curious game about a young person venturing down a well in search of untold treasures with only his Gunboots for protection. Make your way further and further down into the darkness filled with nasty creatures and mysterious secrets to collect the spectacular red gems scattered about the rocks. Step into precariously placed shops and buy some helpful items or level up between levels to battle well-dwelling monsters and uncover hidden caves filled with riches and relics. No two trips down the well are ever the same!

HOTLINE MIAMI

Set in an alternative 1989 Miami, you will assume the role of a mysterious antihero on a murderous rampage against the shady underworld at the behest of voices on your answering machine. Soon you'll find yourself struggling to get a grip of what is going on and why you are prone to these acts of violence.

NIDHOGG

Nidhogg is the epic award-winning fencing tug-of-war, full of graceful acrobatics and clumsy stabs. IRL yelling and excitement may occur, in this ultimate two-player showdown of fast-paced fencing and melee attacks. Beware, advantages in Nidhogg are often fleeting, as new opponents continually spawn.

UNDERTALE

The RPG game where you don't have to destroy anyone. You control a human who falls underground into the world of monsters. Now you must find your way out... or stay trapped forever.

RISK OF RAIN

Risk of Rain is an action platformer with roguelike elements. With permanent death as a primary feature, players will have to play their best to get as far as possible. Fight on a mysterious planet with randomly spawning enemies and bosses, either alone or with 3 friends in online co-op.

This is just a very small selection and there are countless more amazing GameMaker games available across Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, HTML5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
